As state governments continue to encroach upon the religious liberties of individuals and groups, ACBC recognizes that this is particularly noticeable within the discipline and practice of counseling. As Christians, we affirm that it is inconsistent to withhold biblical morality and mandates in counseling and soul care, in deference to state statutes and codes of ethics which regulate Christian principles and truths. With these concerns in mind, ACBC welcomes those currently holding state licensure for professional counseling to engage in our Phase One training, to further discern the philosophical and theological underpinnings that distinguish biblical counseling from other approaches.

Dado que la consejería es fundamentalmente de naturaleza teológica, ACBC se reserva el derecho de no aprobar a los actuales Consejeros Profesionales Licenciados, Consejeros de Salud Mental Licenciados, o a aquellos que posean licencias equitativas para los servicios de consejería, para que continúen con el proceso de certificación debido a las crecientes restricciones éticas y morales impuestas a los profesionales con licencia estatal. Sin embargo, aquellos que hayan completado la Fase Uno y deseen continuar en la progresión de la certificación de ACBC pueden hacer una apelación para su consideración con el departamento de Servicios de Membresía ACBC.
